News from India & around the world
Science
Scientists match Earth's ice age cycles with orbital shifts
Earth’s Ice Age playlist: Scientists sync glaciers with orbital grooves! Turns out climate change has been dancing to cosmic beats for millions of years—Because who knew our planet had its own 'Freeze and Thaw' rhythm?📻🌊📀
ECMWF’s AI forecasts become operational
Say Hello to AIFS, the algorithm that’s ready to play meteorologist alongside good ol' Physics—Because why stop at clouds when you can crunch data too?🌧️🌦️😶🌫️⛅️🌤️

What We Learned From the Hottest Year on Record
2024 breaks the heat record… I did not know that, did I??? Anyway, what use is this amazing fact?🤨
Adaptation
India’s first National Adaptation Plan
When the heat turns up and the floods roll in, it’s time for a National Adaptation Plan! From resilient crops to floodproof cities…
From nuts to kelp: The 'carbon-negative' foods that help reverse climate change
Craving Climate Action? Grab a handful of Nuts and a side of Kelp! Lets go for a carbon negative snack attack?
What can you do as an individual?
It’s amazing how our everyday choices can shrink waste, cut down consumption, and help protect wildlife and the environment. So, go ahead—save the planet one tiny tweak at a time... and maybe let your carbon footprint take a much-needed holiday while you’re at it!
Here are a couple of tips to leave an impact:
Green your search engines: Did you know that your web searches have a carbon footprint? Switch to eco-friendly search engines like Ecosia, which plants trees with its ad revenue. So, every random cat fact you search is helping the planet one tree at a time!
Make your fridge go green: Your fridge works harder when it’s squished up against the wall. Pull it a few inches away to improve airflow, and you’ll save energy without even trying. Don’t take my word for it, but sure do take the researchers’.
Opt for "natural" screen time: Set your computer and phone screens to ‘night mode’ or reduce brightness—it uses less energy! It’s a tiny tweak, but across billions of devices, the energy savings could power a small country (or at least a few eco-friendly towns).
Here’s a quick icebreaker (quite literally with the melting ice caps)!
