Stay tuned for updates on how science and technology is shaping our shared space and how we can all play a role in creating a more resilient, sustainable world.
News from India & around the world
Science
“You thought carbon capture was a viable climate solution? Check out what this study found out.”
In these times of extreme weather everywhere, another hit to the CCS plans… Asia’s big CCS plans could stack another 25 Gt of CO₂ by 2050. The bubble burst real quick, didn’t it 😭😓😪
The monsoon went exploring, and climate change said, ‘Sure, go global!’
Impacts
Turns out shade isn’t just a comfort, it’s a privilege- and the city seems to be charging rent for it.🏬🏗️🏨
When 84 % of reef structures show bleaching, the loudest beaches are the silent ones losing their pulse.🪸
Adaptation
Because what’s on our plates shapes what’s left of our planet 🍽️✅
From kerosene to kilowatts, they’re proving that real power isn’t just generated, it’s shared.😉🤓
What can you do as an individual?
We bursted a few bubbles last time… We are really good at that btw!!! You can call us Optimists! You know our collective daily changes have the capability to reduce consumption, reduce waste, and protect the wildlife and the environment.
What’s shaking up the skies?
We’ve all had those mid-flight jolts where your coffee almost takes off on its own! ✈️ Turns out, turbulence is getting worse, and yes, climate change is behind it. As the eminent climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe explains, warmer air and shifting jet streams are making our skies bumpier than ever.
But hey, no need to panic, this is a reminder, not a warning. Every time we choose the train over a plane, talk about climate change, or support clean energy, we’re helping calm those turbulent skies.
Here are a couple of places to learn more and leave an impact:
From Katharine Hayhoe: Blame the bumps! Climate change is giving your flight that extra “roller-coaster” feel.
From Sunita Narin: Global problems, local fixes. Turns out saving the world starts with your neighbourhood, globalisation just got a local makeover.
A brilliant metric to evaluate your individual contribution to global climate change is Carbon footprint , use this to tip your balances back to “net-zero”
